1) Download FollowNet from the App Store. 2) Sign in with the email verification code. 3) Approve the iOS VPN configuration prompt. 4) Tap Connect or enable Smart Connect. 5) Optionally set Auto-connect, DNS profiles, and a Home Screen widget.
What the iOS VPN permission means
Apple requires explicit permission for Network Extension VPN apps. You are adding a system VPN configuration managed by FollowNet — not sideloading a random profile. You can remove it later in iOS Settings → VPN if you uninstall.
First-run tips
Test on home Wi‑Fi before travel. Run Speed Test with VPN on and off. Pick a nearby location from those listed in the app. If WireGuard fails on a restrictive network, leave Smart Connect on or try AmneziaWG, IKEv2, or Hysteria2 in Settings → Protocol.
Recommended settings after connect
For cafés and hotels, set Auto-connect to Wi‑Fi Only. Keep Smart Connect on when you travel. Add a widget to confirm status. Review DNS only if you want a specific resolver — it does not replace VPN encryption.
