Travel roaming with FollowNet: SIMs, hotels, and Smart Connect
How to prepare before you fly, what to expect on foreign carriers, and when Premium locations matter.
Install before you leave
Download FollowNet, sign in with email code, and verify Connect works on home Wi‑Fi. Airport networks are a bad place to discover App Store or login friction. Save a working protocol preference or leave Smart Connect on for unknown carriers.
Hotels and captive portals
Complete the hotel portal first, then connect VPN. Auto-connect on Wi‑Fi Only shines here. If WireGuard stalls on the property network, Smart Connect may move you to AmneziaWG, IKEv2, or Hysteria2 — watch the active protocol in the app.
Roaming data and Free limits

Laws and expectations
FollowNet is a conventional VPN with global exits, not a guarantee of access everywhere. Local rules and network policies vary; you are responsible for complying. Use travel VPN for privacy and stability — not as a promise of unrestricted content.
