FollowNet Free weekly traffic: what counts, what resets, what does not

How the Free allowance behaves in the iOS app — including Speed Test, tunnel overhead, and why Premium is capacity not “stronger crypto.”

Free is a real VPN with a meter

FollowNet Free includes the same protocol toolkit as Premium on iOS (Smart Connect, WireGuard, AmneziaWG, Hysteria2, VLESS Reality, IKEv2) inside a weekly traffic allowance shown in the app. The meter is the product honesty layer — not a fake “unlimited forever” banner.

What burns the allowance

Tunnelled bytes count — browsing, video, updates, and in-app Speed Test runs. Protocol handshakes and Smart Connect probes are small but real. If you are near the ceiling, skip recreational speed tests.

When the week resets

The app and account UI show remaining / limit for the current weekly window. Exact megabyte numbers can change with plan config — always trust the in-app meter over an old blog screenshot.

Quota blocked UX

When the allowance is exhausted, connect attempts are blocked and the UI points to Premium. Widgets can surface a quota-blocked state instead of a fake Connected. Upgrading unlocks unlimited traffic, the wider server map, up to five devices, and removes ads — same encryption stack.
